Giving birth in the supine position - an absolute no-go?!

More midwives for individual birth care
Birth is a unique moment and every person giving birth should have the right to give birth in the position that feels right for them. A self-determined birth means that the chosen birth position is part of individuality and personal freedom of choice. This is where the role of the midwife becomes essential: a midwife should support, encourage and show the possibilities so that the woman giving birth can develop freely - without pressure and with maximum self-determination.

Birth in the supine position iconographically depicted
The supine position is often viewed with skepticism, especially in hospital births, where women often have less say. It is important to question this position, but also to understand that it can be the optimal position under the right circumstances. If the conditions are right and the person giving birth feels safe, the supine position can be experienced as just as powerful and positive as other birthing positions. Because no position is fundamentally "better" than the other - what matters is what feels right for the person giving birth.

With MORE MIDWIVES we are committed to individual and self-determined birth care. More midwives mean more support, more time and more space for personal development during birth. Because a good birth is one in which the woman giving birth feels heard, seen and supported in her decision.
