Midwife Prejudices and Clichés - How Midwife Lina Deals with Them

"I know one should clear up prejudices and clichés, confront such people, teach them better... But honestly? Sometimes I have neither the time nor the patience for that, and even more honestly? Sometimes it affects me more than it should... I'm met with prejudices like midwives are eco-friendly. Midwives always do their own thing, are incorrigible, and ignore other (especially medical) opinions. Midwives are alternative, only dealing with herbs and teas. You can chat with the midwife, but for "real" examinations you go to the gynecologist. Midwives only experience beautiful situations and spend all day with happy families. Midwives impose their opinions. For midwives, it's all about breastfeeding. We are so much more than that. We midwives are trained medical professionals, PERIOD. Regularly continuing our education, working according to clear guidelines, and fighting to regain our authority in the medical world! Of course, there are exceptions, we all work differently just as we have different personalities, but doesn't that make it so special? Find a midwife who suits you, support campaigns like @moremidwivess to ensure the "choice" of midwives and to ensure that we, as midwives, can continue to accompany families on their journey."
