Free parking for midwives: Graz shows the way

In Graz, midwives will be able to park for free during their assignments starting in June 2026. What's special about it: The solution is simple and unbureaucratic. The "Midwife Graz Free Parking" project only requires visible identification on the vehicle and the official seal of the Austrian Midwives Association.

It could be just as uncomplicated in Germany.

Because currently there is no uniform regulation here. Many freelance midwives struggle daily with parking searches, fees or tickets – even though they provide medical care to families and are often under time pressure.

The new regulation in Graz therefore sends an important signal: midwives are naturally part of medical care and should be supported just like other healthcare professions. Less bureaucracy, fewer costs and more recognition would ultimately benefit families above all.
