MORE MIDWIVES - Defund The Cops

"MORE MIDWIVES Defund the cops" is a well-known slogan, especially in the US, that became popular in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement. It literally calls for diverting funds from the police and redirecting them to social services such as education, health, or obstetrics.

But it doesn’t have to be read so literally, the meaning of the sentence is more like:

“Instead of putting more money into the police, more should be invested in the care of mothers and children – for example, in midwives.”
